About
This is a website born out of my interest in languages.
Currently, I’m living in New Zealand (my home country) and on a break from travelling. Next on my list of travels is South America, Asia, and back to Europe. However I’m basically up for anything so watch this space.
When I started this website I was living in Madrid and learning Spanish. I moved to Madrid in September 2006 so I could experience the language properly and don’t regret the decision at all. It has given me a big jump in my learning, despite not being able to communicate sometimes!
I’ve been learning Spanish for about two years and a half now and have loved nearly every moment of it. To be honest my study has been put on hold since I arrived back in NZ except for the occasional movie. My latest language interest has actually been sign language but I’ll pretty much try to learn anything I come into contact with.
I supported myself in Spain by teaching English. This was a natural fit for me due to my interest in languages and it increased my understanding of Spanish as well. Teaching English is a fun experience although it can be very tiring at times. But if you can escape to a foreign country for a while, teaching English (or your native language) is a great way to do it.
While I obviously have a bias towards Spanish, I’ll do my best to give other languages exposure as well. For the record, some other languages I have an interest in at the moment are Japanese, NZ Sign Language, Portuguese, Maori, German, French, and Italian.
And of course, anyone else who feels they can contribute to this website can drop me a line. So enjoy, and feel free to share with others any resources you might have found that could help others.
