I saw on digg there was an article where a city board decided it was ok that a shop had a sign stating:
“This is America: WHEN ORDERING ‘PLEASE SPEAK ENGLISH’”
Now without going into how stupid this is or reopening the whole debate on making English the national language of the US, I want to leave people with a thought.

What would happen? The American tourist would get angry with the French or Greek because they don’t speak English. This happens. I have seen it. The best way to deal with the agresssively monolingual gringo recently happended to a cousein of mine. He asked someone in France “Parlez vous Anglais?” and the French person answered “No, do you speak French”
